1930's style inspiration

Hello dear readers,

I've fallen in love with the 1930's. My favorite thing about the 1930's is definitely the fashion. Those were the days when every women took good care of their appearance, made an effort to be as well-dressed and presentable as they possibly can, regardless of their wealth or social positions. We always see Rita Hayworth, Marlene Dietrich, Joan Crawford, Ginger Rogers etc. on the big silver screen, but what about the everyday women? The women that went to the market, not the movie set?

I love those scarfs, hats but especially the sunglasses...

I'm wearing
Sunglasses: Vintage Shop
Scarf: From mom's closet
Blouse: Vintage Shop
Skirt: Sewn
Shoes: Second-hand
Jewellery: Vintage
Suitcase for my Make-up &
Bag: Gift

  1. Prekrasna... Uvijek si mislim kako su u tim prošlimmodnim dekadama žene bile predivno ženstvne i dotjerane, kako uostalom žena i treba biti! :)

  2. I love that skirt! Its colour is so beautiful! Great post!

  3. Hm, well those pictures aren't really an accurate depiction of what the average woman of the 30's wore. The first picture is a cover off of a magazine, and the second one is Bette Davis. Among middle to higher class women these pictures could accurately reflect their style, but the majority of America was greatly affected by the Great Depression. You would probably find the average woman of the time in a sensible feed sack dress. The silhouette of the dress would be elongated and thin, but little touches like princess sleeves, frilly pockets, or a collar would balance the dress out.

Of course, these images are wonderful and really do reflect a time when sport and leisure fashion took off like a bottle rocket and is thus responsible for wonderful things like GIANT, wide legged beach pajamas. :-)

    1. Yes I know this is not the best example of the average woman of the 1930's - I understand; you meant this:
I love the photo of the cover magazine and Bette Davis in the second one (these photos are from the late 1930's).
Thank you so much! Glad you like it!
It's really difficult to find dresses from the 1930's :-(
